Chiranthana (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. Your name, email address, phone number, postal address and PAN when you donate, register a supporter account, make an admission enquiry, sign up to volunteer, subscribe to our newsletter or contact us.
- Payment information. Donations are processed by Razorpay. Card numbers, UPI IDs, CVV and bank credentials are entered on Razorpay's secure systems and are never stored on our servers. We retain only the payment reference, amount, date and status.
- Technical information. Standard web-server logs and, where enabled, anonymised analytics about how the site is used.
How we use your information
- To process donations and issue receipts and 80G tax-exemption certificates.
- To respond to admission enquiries, volunteer applications and general questions.
- To send newsletters and updates you have asked to receive.
- To meet our legal, accounting and regulatory obligations as a registered non-profit in India.
Legal basis and retention
We process your information on the basis of your consent, and to fulfil our obligations to you. Donation and receipt records are retained for as long as Indian tax and charity law requires. Other information is kept only as long as it remains useful for the purpose it was given.
Sharing your information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with:
- Our payment gateway (Razorpay) to process donations;
- Our email service provider to deliver messages you have requested;
- Government or regulatory authorities where the law requires it.
Children and beneficiaries
We take particular care with information and photographs concerning the children and adults we serve. We publish images and stories only with the informed consent of the individual and/or their parent or guardian, and that consent can be withdrawn at any time by writing to us.
Cookies
We use only the cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to keep forms secure. We do not use advertising cookies. You can block cookies in your browser, though signing in will then not work.
Security
Passwords are stored using one-way hashing and are never readable by our staff. We use secure connections for payments and restrict access to donor records to authorised staff. No system is perfectly secure, but we take these obligations seriously.
Your rights
You may ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop sending you communications. Registered supporters can update their own details at any time from their account page. For anything else, write to us and we will respond within a reasonable period.
